OUR HISTORY
The company was established in Northern Ireland in the early 1970's. Northern Ireland has a long history of waterpower initially being used in the production of linen yarn. There were still 6 active turbine manufacturers in the province in the late 1960’s. Work originally included turbine restoration and upgrading of existing hydro schemes, which has since fallen into disrepair with the demise of the linen industry. The desire to produce clean power has taken over . Traditionally skilled pattern makers were required to make the components of the turbine which were cast in local foundries in the Harland & Wolf shipyard and James Mackie and co. With advances in technology our techniques have evolved to Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing.
WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU
Today Newmills Technology provides a wide range of hydro services. Capable of selecting, designing and manufacturing the turbine, generator and control equipment means we can work to meet your own individual specification. We provide a project management service that oversees the turbine design right the way to the installation and commission. We will keep your systems running after commissioning with maintenance and repairs whether this be from natural wear and tear or for when the unexpected occurs.
We provide a wide range of turbine types to fit all sites and specifications up to the production of 20 Mega Watts output. Specialising in hydro projects that are required to minimise their impact on the environment means we have been involved in numerous projects previously thought not possible. These projects were carried out in environmentally sensitive regions of the Scottish Highlands, England, Wales and Ireland, this has given Newmills Technology unrivalled experience. When working on any project that is situated on an environmentally sensitive site an environmental risk assessment is carried out before work begins, this can include assessment for the entire design and construction of the project.

When you first enquire about a project, we will start working on turbine selection and provide a quote within days. We will produce a suitable solution that is cost effective and meets your specification. From the outset, our clients can expect a high standard of customer service. We are willing to visit the site if the client wishes to discuss any aspect of the process further in person and to confirm further design budget estimates. Once the order is received, work will begin whilst great service is being provided at all stages, tending to all your needs.
